World football governing body FIFA in conjunction with International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) have published the names of 55 players chosen for the best eleven of the year 2016. This selection of 55 players was voted by the players themselves.
More bad news for Barcelona after the 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium. Two major players Neymar and Ivan Rakitic received a yellow card each after a bad tackle on Manchester City player. This means they are both one card away from being suspended for one game.
Ivan Rakitic have currently had his mind fixed ahead of the Champions League game tonight. While speaking to the press in a brief interview, the Croatian mentioned the next possible best player after Lionel Messi.
In a recent interview with The Times, Ivan Rakitic was full of praises about the his team and particularly the MSN. He also show his admiration for ex Barcelona player Pep Guardiola who will face his side on Wednesday’s Champions League game.
As confirmed by the coach in the press conference ahead of Deportivo clash, Lionel Messi and Samuel Umtiti have fully recovered from injury. But nothing was said about Rakitic who have being training with other members of the squad since on Monday.
Rakitic did not play in the Barca game against Celta Vigo and the club did not officially state any reason for his absence in the league game. Today, the Croatian national team announced that the Barca player will not be available to participate in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers as a result of Achilles injury.
Among anything FC Barcelona is set to achieve in the 2016/2017 season is the contract renewal of Messi, Suarez and Ivan Rakitic. However in a recent interview with RAC 1, FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu included the German goalkeeper in the list of potential contract renewal.
After the 2-1 victory for his side in Estadio de San Mames, Rakitic in a interview gave positive remarks about the oucome of the game but was not entirely pleased that Barca conceded a goal. “It was a very intense game, based on the past meetings, we know Athletic Club well and we are to go home happy for the result, although not conceding a goal would have being better for us.” he said.
FC Barcelona first team resumed training after the three days off, the training session started with a minute of silence in memory of victims of the recent terror attack on the Paris capital city of France. All players who did not go on international duty were present including players who are still recovering from injury, Messi and Rakitic.
In the 20th minutes of the game against BATE Borisovr, Rakitic was subbed off and replaced by Munir El Haddadi which was as a result of a small tear in his right calf he had just a minute just before he was replaced. Continue reading
