Cristiano Ronaldo once again won the award of The Best Player organized by FIFA on Wednesday night. In total, Cristiano got 34.54% of vote while Messi got 26.42% and Griezmann got 6.61% of vote from the four categories that are eligible to vote.
On Friday (today) afternoon, World football governing body FIFA have announced the top three players eligible to win the ultimate prize of FIFA’s Best Player of the Year Award 2016. Of course, among the three nominees is just one Barcelona player; Lionel Messi.
As revealed in a radio program on COPE radio station, Julen Lopetegui had casted his vote in the FIFA ‘The Best’ award in the category of Best player of 2016. He also opened up on who he voted as the best coach of 2016.

His two goals made FC Barcelona to have secured a good spot ahead of the Champions League draw for the 1/8 stage. The popular British website Goal.com carried out a voting poll for their readers in a quest to know who would be the best football player in 2016. It’s not surprise that the winner of the poll is FC Barcelona star man Lionel Messi.
Pele have recently joined the debate on who the best player between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Just as Xavi Hernandez was did some days ago, the Brazilian legend admitted the current Real Madrid man is only a very good goal scorer but the Barca man is still the best. The European governing body have released the three finalist for the best players in Europe and it’s surprising to see that neither Lionel Messi nor Luis Suarez made it to the top three. The three players chosen by UEFA are Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid), Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).
In an interview with Sport, Xavi Hernandez was in no confusion or skepticism when he talked about the perfect replacement and successor for Lionel Messi when he quits football in FC Barcelona. “For me, there’s no successor to Messi and there is no way there can be one. Certainly, there will be very good players but not as good as Messi or his rank.”
Being the star of the gala award, FC Barcelona sweep four award in the prestigious Global Soccer award ceremony that took place on Sunday 27 December. Messi received award for best player of the year, Josep Bartomeu received best president, FC Barcelona awarded best club team of the year and team with most media attraction.
