Klopp: Messi is unstoppable, cannot defend that freekick

After the first leg of the Champions League semi-final game of Barcelona against Liverpool, Klopp spoke to the media on the 3–0 defeat the received from the Spanish side.

He started; “As a manager, I completely happy with how we played against a side like this. We played between the lines and we had really good chances and we caused them a lot of problems. But we didn’t score a goal and that makes our life a lot harder against a side like this.”

He added; “In this moment, Messi is unstoppable. You obviously cannot defend that freekick (what a strike). A world class and an outstanding player like him. His second goal was not his best goal in his career but it shows his skill. But we defended him and the whole Barca team very well. I am a big admirer of him. Since I knew before now that he’s a world class player, I am not so surprised even though I saw it again.”

Ernesto Valverde did everything right and I did everything wrong that is in football like this. And we will both still carry on probably. Wasn’t surprised about their line up seeing the like of Arturo Vidal. I second guess they were going for a defensive game.” said Klopp.
