Coutinho has lost his place in Barca’s starting XI

Philippe Coutinho did not make the starting lineup for the Champions League game against Lyon on Tuesday. It was an all important game for the team and it clearly states everyone’s status in the team as to them starting the game.

Apparently, if everyone in the team is fit, Ousmane Dembele will be ahead of Philippe Coutinho in big and important games. In the Champions League match against Lyon Messi, Suarez and Dembele formed the attack of Barcelona.

The Frenchman was one of the best player on the pitch. But he got to his absolute best when he switched to the right position. About 25 minutes to the end of the match, Coutinho replaced Dembele. The Brazilian made impact in his first four minutes and was not even noticed in the rest of the game.

Post match conference Valverde said; “I didn’t want to stress out Dembele because I thought he was feeling tired so we introduced Coutinho. He connected with the team well.”

Coutinho was not so fantastic but that’s about the best we have seen from the Brazilian in recent times. He would have to fight against all odds to remain relevant even in less important games.
