Bartomeu: It’s not possible for Neymar to return

In an interview with Radio Kanal Barcelona, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu responded to a long list of questions. Among all questions asked concerning the club and its players, was a possible return of Neymar Jr to the Camp Nou.

Neymar left Barcelona for PSG in 2017 for a world record transfer fee of 222 million euros. Although, Barcelona didn’t want the Brazilian to go and
after so much persuasion from his former teammates to remain in Barcelona, he choice to leave.

There are reports suggesting Neymar regret leaving Barcelona and wish for a possible return. So Bartomeu was asked if it’s true.

Neymar and I have seen and spoken to each other since he left us but his people have never told me he wants to return, no one has contacted us about his possible return”, said Bartomeu.

He has a contract with PSG and he has only stayed there for two years. It is just hard to imagine they would want to sell him.”

Though we never wanted to sell him, we were vulnerable to other European clubs in terms of release clause. Since PSG don’t have a release clause on him, it’s not possible for Neymar to return.”

He concluded “since Neymar’s exist, the club brought in Coutinho and Dembele. They are the two biggest investment the club has ever done and we will back them fully. we have to continue bringing good football with them.”
