Tebas: No one has given to LaLiga more than Leo Messi

La Liga president Javier Tebas was full of praises for Lionel Messi after the MARCA show award on Monday. The show took place in Convent dels Angels, Barcelona. The Argentine was also surprised at the award ceremony by receiving the Pichichi (highest goal scorer) and Di Stefano (best player) awards in La Liga Santander 2017/2018 season.

No one has given to La Liga more than him (Lionel Messi) and if he decides to end his career in Spain or most part of it here, I don’t believe anyone has devoted more than he has to the competition. And for the record, the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo has left our competition Italy still makes him important”, said Tebas.

Asked about the game between Barca and Girona which many sees it to take place in Maimi, United States. “Definitely, the target is for the match to be played outside of Europe. We are working on the fixture to be on the 29th of January. I believe we have every right to fix it that way and we will make sure we  see it come to reality until the end.”

Asked about Neymar’s possible return to La Liga, “I don’t want to know which team Neymar joins if ever he comes back, but I would love to see him here in Spain. I don’t care what team he plays for, it is the job of the clubs to secure him to their own side.”

The president who has also expressed his wish to create an award just to name it after the Argentine. “That would depend on Leo but I would like to see an award in Spanish football named after him because he has given a lot to us.”
