Tenth consecutive season and Barca is in the quarterfinal

After the 6–1 (6–5 aggre­gate) his­toric vic­to­ry of FC Barcelona against Paris Saint Ger­main in the Cham­pi­ons League, the Cata­lan club will find them­selves in the quar­ter final of the Uefa Cham­pi­ons League for the tenth time in the tenth year.

The last time Bar­ca got elim­i­nat­ed in the Round of 16 knock­out stage of the com­pe­ti­tion was in 2006/2007 sea­son. The then Frank Rijkaard team could not com­plete­ly over turn the 2–1 defeat received in Camp Nou. Bar­ca played the return leg at Anfield Sta­di­um and with the only goal from Eidur Gud­johnsen could not put Bar­ca through to the Quar­ter final.

With­in the ten con­sec­u­tive sea­sons of qual­i­fy­ing into the quar­ter final of the Cham­pi­ons League, Bar­ca won the com­pe­ti­tion in 2009, 2011 and 2015. Played and got elim­i­nat­ed in the four semi finals (2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013). They’ve only being elim­i­nat­ed twice in the quar­ter final against Atleti­co Madrid in 2014 and 2016.

On Fri­day 17th March, the draw for the Cham­pi­ons League quar­ter final will take place in Nyon, Switzer­land. Mean­while, Only Real Madrid, Bay­ern Munich, Bor­ru­sia Dort­mund and Barcelona have qual­i­fied.
