The current Barcelona head coach who have had some worth of success in the Catalan club have announced his retirement which will be at the end of the 2016/2017 season. Luis Enrique made the announcement in the press conference room after the 6–1victory against Sporting Gijon.
“By the end of this season and beginning of next season I’ll not be the coach of FC Barcelona. Although it’s not an easy decision to make and I’ve thought about it carefully. I believe I’ve made the best decision, said Austrian coach.”
He added, “During pre-season, I met with Soler and Robert Fernandez and that was when I told them I may not extend my contract with the club. Their reply was that there was no need for rush in making an important decision like this. Now I believe this is the time.”
“The reason I’m leaving is because in this job, you can barely make out time to rest. Also, no opportunity to connect to the world. You constantly want to improve on your team which means very little time to rest.”
“I just want to appreciate the club for giving me the opportunity like this and also the players for their enormous support.”
He concluded; “The remaining three months will be very thrilling because I’ll give my all. Even though our situation is complicated in some competition. But with the help of people and good luck our situation can be turned around.”
