Atletico Madrid is set to take on FC Barcelona in Madrid for the Matchday 24 of the Spanish La Liga on Sunday (today). But ahead of the game, Diego Simone spoke to the press and was full of praises for the Catalan club. The Atletico Madrid coach stressed that despite some off display on from the Barca side, they’re still the best football team in the world.
“It’s very hard to compete the way they’ve being competing over the years. They’ve won a lot of trophies and titles under the guidance of Luis Enrique, they’ve also competed at the top most level in football. They are no doubt still the best team in the world but even the best teams still have some bad times on the pitch. Barcelona had a bad time at Paris,” said Diego Simone.
“We met in the Copa del Rey competition and they eliminated us because they were better than us. In the halves we played against them right here in Calderon, we intended to play high but they scored two goals under 20 minutes.”
He continued “In the second half, even though were very close to making things difficult for them, they still proved to be the best in the world and stood their ground. After the defeat of Real Madrid, there’s still hope of winning the league. We will strategically go all out against the best of Barcelona.”
