Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) have decided to reduce the penalty of not buying and registering players leveled against Real Madrid for just one transfer window. This would make Los Blancos eligible to buy and register players by 2017 summer transfer. Remember that Barcelona was in the same situation but FIFA had turned down their appeal.
This penalty imposed on Real Madrid by FIFA will only be effective on January transfer which many club hardly sign and register players in the winter transfer window. What brought about this sanction is the abnormality in signing underage players which Real Madrid is guilty of. Barcelona was in the same situation as Real Madrid and also appealed against the judgment but was not granted.
However, the Catalan club could not sign and register players in January and summer of 2015. This made Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan not play for six months
However, FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu have said he was going to consult lawyers to know why the penalty sanction on Los Blancos was reduced while the Blaugranas appeal couldn’t even be considered.
