Sampaoli: The Ballon d’Or should always be for Messi

Real Madrid star man Cristiano Ronaldo have recently received the Ballon d’Or award. Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli have opened up on the award while speaking to the press ahead of the weekend game. He stressed that Lionel Messi deserve the award more than the Portuguese man.

No doubt, Cristiano Ronaldo deserve any award you give to him. But the truth is that there’s a huge difference between Messi and other players. The Ballon d’Or should always be for Messi while other players compete for other awards,” said Sampaoli.

The Sevilla coach also talked on the video replay recently applied during games which was highly exaggerated in the FIFA Club World Cup. “The technology we’ve seen in recent games is changing our sport into a different one that we used to know. It is obviously not football that we are used to. New rules of the game has more to do with technology than the game we are used to enjoying.  It only reduce the spirit of the game and makes it less intense.”
