Barcelona breaks another Champions League record

The Tuesday night Champions League game is not just a victory for the club but also has other attached records to it. The 4–0 victory against Borussia Monchengladbach recorded the first Champions League hat-trick for Arda Turan, it also records Mascherano’s 300th official game for Barca. Now it sets another Champions League record for FC Barcelona.

The club puts up a record of 993 passes within 90 minutes of play on the field. Luis Enrique’s men beats Guardiola’s men of 2010 after setting their record of 971 passes against Rubin Kazan.

Of the 993 passes made, 905 passes are successful. It only shows that Barcelona have not lost their tiki taka style of play. This new record for Barca only puts them as the top eight club in whole of Europe to make the most complete passes in a single game. Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich occupies  the 9th and 10th highest passes in Europe.

For individual passes, no player have being able to come close to Xavi after making 184 passes against Celtic in 2014. Xavi Hernandez still remains the player that have mad the most passes in a single Champions League game.
