Xavi: It will be a dream come true if I’ll be the coach and Pique will be the President of Barcelona

xavi-on-piqueThe former Barcelona midfielder spoke to a Spanish radio station Cadena COPE in which he revealed his dream for FC Barcelona and also shared his own take on tomorrow’s El Clasico.

On Messi’s contract renewal in Barcelona

FC Barcelona still have an existing contract that binds both parties together. And all I see is that Leo is very happy and satisfied where he is. I’ve never spoken to him about his renewal with Barca but he knows he’s at the best place he can ever be. I don’t see him moving to any other club. If I have to place a bet, it will be that Messi will finish his career at Barcelona.”

On Clasico

Clasicos are very different from normal games. One side can be behind from the other by 20 points on the league table but can still have a great game or vice versa. There can be a little more pressure on Barcelona because they are six points behind Real Madrid on the standing table.”

On Iniesta’s effect on the El Clasico

Iniesta is surely a decider in the game. He may not score goals but he gives the team confidence just by playing on the field. If they say the team had less control of the ball in previous game, he’ll give them the control they need.

On Gerard Pique’s ambition of becoming the President of FC Barcelona

I think Pique has the ability to lead, he’s an achiever. Whatever he wants, he goes for it and get it. It would be a dream come true if I’m the coach and Pique is the President of FC Barcelona. It’s something I’ve never stopped thinking about.
