Celtic 0–2 Barcelona: Messi’s goals takes the Blaugranas to the next stage as group leaders

messi-scoresJust as expected it wasn’t an easy game for FC Barcelona but it was a well deserved victory as Lionel Messi helped the Catalan club with the only two goals of the game. Now the Catalan club have permanently stamped their place on the Group C standings.

Lionel Messi open his scoring chart in the first half after 24 minutes into the game. With a beautiful assist from Neymar, Leo took a well stroke shot that had to hit the bar to just to find it’s way into the net.

Chances were created and missed almost throughout the game from both sides with Barcelona creating most of those chances.

In the second half, Luis Suarez was held down by Emilio Izaguirre. The referee hesitated but I guess the linesman must have called his attention on what the judgement was suppose to be. Immediately, the match official pointed to the spot. With no mistake, Messi took it as cool as you like it.

Neymar and Ivan Rakitic was shown yellow cards but it seems like it just went as planned. It was a perfect time to miss the next game for both players after getting their fifth yellow card of the competition this season. Since Barcelona are already guaranteed to top the table, there will be not point for Barca to play their best. Instead they will focus on the Spanish La Liga until February 2017 when the first knockout stage will be played.
