According to the Madrid based sports dailies AS, FC Barcelona has an alternative plan if Luis Enrique fails to renew has contract with the club as a coach. Although the club has convinced the head coach to extend his contract with them, the coach reply is till the end of spring.
AS however reports that if Luis Enrique decline in renewing his contract with the club, Juan Carlos Unzue an assistant to Enrique will take his position as the next coach. This would mean that Luis Enrique’s successor would be his assistant who he have being working with right from his former club.
Over the years, Luis Enrique have praised his assistant who is a retired goalkeeper and was also a goalkeeper coach. If Unzue takes over from Luis Enrique, it would be very similar occurrence in 2012/2013 season when Tito Vilanova took the position of Pep Guardiola who was his boss. His only experince as a first team coach was with then newly promoted Segunda Division team Numancia and ended 10th place in the 2010/2011 season.
In 2012, he signed to be the head coach of Racing but did not even manage the team as a result of internal conflict.
