Next week Saturday, FC Barcelona will welcome Malaga for the Week 12 La Liga match which will kick off by 4:15 pm CET. Malaga is a less tougher opponent for Barca which should leave Luis Enrique less worried ahead of the next Lal Liga clash. But the reality is that Luis Enrique is more troubled than he should be because of the state of his defense lineup.
Injuries affecting Luis Enrique’s players especially from the Russia World Cup qualifier are more disturbing for the coach. Already Samuel Umtiti have being ruled out of play until three weeks, while Sergi Roberto is now suffering from Achilles tendon pain. Although the Barca right back is still with the Spanish squad, when he returns to Barcelona he will undergo test on the pain.
With the possibility of Sergi Roberto not playing against Malaga as a result of Achilles tendon pain and Aleix Vidal who’s not in the plan of the coach in any of Barca’s game. The worse case would be the coach play a random defender who have not played the right back position. This is because Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal are the only right back players in the first team. Enrique would have moved for Barca B right back player Nili Perdomo to cover the position but the defender wa injured im Saturday’s game and is not expected to play until four weeks.
All central defenders may be available for the game against Malaga except Samuel Umtiti who will not play until three weeks. Gerard Pique is expected to be back from injury although waiting to receive the green light from the medical team.
Lucas Digne is the only defender who have not injured this season and he has played full 90 minutes in the last six games for Barcelona. While Jordi Alba is expected to return from injury, just like Pique he’s waiting for the go ahead signal to play from the medical team.
