Pique: Guardiola had an effect on us all, he changed the history of Barca

pique-press conferenceAfter the final training session that prepares the Blaugranas to match up with Man City, Gerard Pique appeared in front of the press to speak ahead of the Champions League game that will kick off 8:45 pm on Wednesday (tomorrow).

On the game ahead

It’s a big game for both sides, that’s why wee need to give in our best in the match. We played against a different City last season. Now Pep is the boss, he’s changed the way they see football as well as playing it. Our style of play is similar to theirs, we will need to hold the ball longer and use our strength to play. I know they will press.

On his relationship with Guardiola

For those of us who played under him with his four years in Barca as a coach, he has an effect on us, he changed the history of Barca. He made us see football differently. He gave me a chance even when I came from Manchester United.

On Pep wanting to sign Messi and Neymar

Guardiola have always being important to the club (Barca), but he has things he needs to achieve on the other end. Man City is a club that has the financial ability to sign any player in the world, I won’t be astonished if they wanted to sign our two major stars. Don’t know how true it is.

On Neymar who recently renewed his contract

I hope Ney stays here for a long time, he’s a young player that has great potential. Let’s hope we enjoy him for many more years to come. Although a player’s career can take an unexpected different road, he still has a long career ahead of him so let’s enjoy him while we can.

On Messi who he praised as world best

No doubt, Leo is the world best player who has alot to offer to us. Even if he’s only 10 percent good, his presence on the pitch alone goes a long way for us and for the other team (Argentine national team). Argentina doesn’t win most of their game when he’s not there, although it’s hardly possible to win with just a player but he certainly make the difference. We should just give him our support.
