Xavi Talks on Messi’s Successor in Barca

Xavi and MessiIn an interview with Sport, Xavi Hernandez was in no confusion or skepticism when he talked about the perfect replacement and successor for Lionel Messi when he quits football in FC Barcelona. “For me, there’s no successor to Messi and there is no way there can be one. Certainly, there will be very good players but not as good as Messi or his rank.”

The 36 years old added, “After winning both individual and team trophies for many consecutive years, it will be inconceivable to attain. In future, the best players will see themselves as equal although they are trying to feed us the rivalry between C. Ronaldo and Leo but those who know football will see that they are no match. When Messi is done with his professional career, there will be Neymar, maybe Hazard and probably five to ten other players almost a similar level.”

The midfielder gave a bit of advise to his former club in order to keep the best player after his court cases he has being facing for years: “He has dealt with the case for two or three years now and he still keeps being the world best and breaking records. Leo is contented in Barcelona but that doesn’t mean he’s not daunted by the court case. It’s good to have Leo in Barca and there’s need to keep him pleased. In other word, there’s need to resolve all issues. But really it doesn’t affect him in the pitch. Leo is a mentally firm and he has defeated challenges facing him”
